From the park gates we walk up through the park, through the woods and emerge at Archers Garage. We then walk up towards Blackburn Brook and The Bridge Inn, through the woods up to the small recreation ground. We then walk up Burncross Road and Bracken Hill before turning to walk downhill towards Ecclesfield.

Meet at Chapeltown St in time to catch the 9:48am train to Barnsley then the 10:10am, #221 bus to Darfield.

We start at from the Old Wagon Road, making our way through the recreation ground up to Darfield Church. We then make our way down to Wombwell Ings heading for Broomhall Park then through Gypsy Marsh and along to Wetlands where we take lunch. From there we follow the River Dearne down to Bolton-Upon-Dearne.

We start our walk at Wisewood, walking up to Wadsley Common on across the Common to Hillsborough golf course. We continue across the bottom of the golf course and eventually down to Bradfield.

Meet at the British Legion in time to catch the 9:31am #265 bus to Hoyland then the 9:50am #66 bus down to the Heritage Centre.

This is a circular walk up to Wentworth and back to Elsecar. Along the way, we will see several well known local landmarks starting with the Heritage Centre. Further along the walk, we will see the Hoober Stand, Keppel’s column, Wentworth Woodhouse and Wentworth Church before our walk ends at the Heritage Centre.

We start our walk at the Wortley Church walking downhill past the Rugby ground and Finkle Street. We then walk uphill past the retired greyhound kennels past two farms and the fishing lake. We make our way to Woodhead Road then turn to walk downhill through the stone yard. We then walk across several fields and past the riding stables to Penistone Road, crossing the road we enter the woods and down to the Acorn on Burncross Road.

Meet at Chapeltown betting shop in time to catch the 9:30am #1/1a to Sheffield High Street, then a bus to Graves Park.

We take a steady walk through the park before crossing Chesterfield Road and entering Chancet Wood. Emerging from the woods we have a short road walk before crossing the road and entering another wood. Walking through the woods we get a view of the Beauchief Golf Course. We slowly make our way down to the golf course. We cross the course and make our way to Beauchief Abbey. We cross the main road and walk through a small housing estate leading to Millhouses Park.

Meet at Chapeltown Station in time to catch the 9:12am train to Sheffield, then the 9:44am train to Kiveton Park St.

From Kiveton Park station, we walk along the side of the Chesterfield Canal before turning to walk uphill through several fields. At the top of the hill, we walk through a corner of South Anston village down to the A57 road which we cross over. We then make our way through open country eventually entering Stones Wood. We walked through the wood before doing a U-Turn and making our way up to the ridge and making our way back to South Anston, from where we retrace our footsteps back to the station.

After leaving the Fox Public House, we walk past the Birley Carr chapel. Turning right, we make our way on to the back edge. Walking along the ridge towards Jaw Borne Hill, we get some great views of a certain football stadium! We eventually turn right and walk across Wharncliffe Chase and up to Woodhead Road. We cross over the road and make our way to Burncross.

Meet at Chapeltown Station in time to catch the train to Sheffield, then the 10:05am train to Dronfield.

The walk starts at the beginning of Calleywhite Lane, Dronfield. We walk along the lane, passing a few industrial premises before turning in to Frith Wood. We make our way uphill to the Guides Field in time for coffee. We continue walking uphill, eventually reaching the summit where we can take in some excellent views. We then walk downhill, through several fields towards Unstone. We re-enter the woods and take lunch at a splendid spot on the site of the old Unstone Colliery. We continue our descent, once at the bottoms of the hill we make out way back to Dronfield passing several nice houses before reaching Calleywhite Lane.

Meet at Chapeltown Station in time to catch the 9:48am train to Denby.

We leave Denby Street and walk to the bottom of the viaduct before starting our long uphill walk to Upper Denby. We then walk through the village, before entering a field. We walk across several field (the fallen tree has been cleared) before reaching Brathwaite Hall. We walk uphill to Inburchworth where we start our way downhill, walking between two reservoirs and on to Thurlestone. From the village, we walk uphill to the TPT and on to Penistone.

Meet at Chapeltown Station in time to catch the 9:12am train to Sheffield, then the 9:44am train to Kiveton Park. 

We leave the station and walk along the Cuckoo Walk beside the Chesterfield Canal. After about 1 mile, we turn away from the canal and start to walk across fields and through woodland, eventually crossing Lindrick Golf Course. Walking down to Lindrick Dale, we again take the fields and head back to the canal where we retrace our footsteps back to the station.

We walk uphill and through a small wooded area before emerging on to Penistone Road. A short walk along the main road before crossing and then up to the riding stables. Crossing several fields before walking through the stone yard. We make our way uphill and then start our way downhill, walking through a wooded area, emerging to the the Chase. We walk across the Chase and eventually reach Woodhead Road. Once across the road, we retrace our footsteps back to the Acorn.

Thryburgh to Ravenfield Country Parks

Meet at Chapeltown Street in time to catch the 9:12am train to Meadowhall, then the first No. x78 Doncaster bus after 9:30am. We get off the bus at the entrance Thryburgh Park.

Toilets and Cafe at the Visitors centre. We leave the centre and make our way around the lake, eventually reaching the road at the far side of the park. A short road walk up to a crossroads at the end of the village and then down a lane before emerging at the local church. We cross two fields before emerging on to a narrow country lane. We follow the lane to the entrance of Ravenfield Park. We walk downhill to the bottom of the valley and then around several lakes, eventually making our way back up to the entrance. We then retrace our footsteps back to Thryburgh visitors centre. Some short stretches of road walking and six stiles.

Meet at Chapeltown Station in time to catch the 9:48am train to Barnsley, then the 10:20am No. 86 bus to Bolton-on-Dearne.

We walk through the village until we meet up with the River Dearne. We turn off the road and walk under the railway decent track.We follow the track alongside the Dearne, crossing ntually leave the river behind and walk alking downhill toward Consiborough Street. We now have a short road walk to the x78 bus stop (every 10 mins) to Rotherham then the No.66 bus to Chapeltown.

From Fox House, we walk down to the Longshaw Estate. We can have a coffee stop before walking through the estate. We make our way to the White Lodge and then up to the White Edge trail. We walk across the top edge looking down on to Froggatt and making our way to Wellington monument before walking down in to Baslow.

From the Station, we walk on to Pontefract Road, where we pick up the TPT. This takes us to Stairfoot and down to the Mill of the Black Monk. The path here goes down the Dearne Country Park where we now follow the (filled in) canal. A short walk through Monk Bretton leads us to the Norman Inn. We can have a meal here for £6.

After coffee, we start our downhill walk all the way to Oughtibridge Park for lunch. After lunch, a nice steady walk beside the River Don to Wadlsey Bridge and home.

We cross the road and then walk uphill across several fields, before turning downhill to the bottom of the valley, stopping for lunch in a wooded area. At, we cross a small river before making our way uphill towards the railway station.

From Whirlow Brook, we walk downhill by the side of the recreation ground to Eccleshall Woods. Continue downhill, through the woods to Ecclesall Road, we cross the road, then the railway. We enter Chancet Woods and walk up the stairway to heaven. Once at the top, we walk along the ridge for a short while before descending to the golf course. We cross the golf course, walk past the Abbey and on to Millhouses park. Toilets and cafe are available. Once through the park, we catch our bus home.

Meet at Chapeltown Station in time to catch the 9:48am train to Denby.

This walk takes us from Denby Dale to Upper Cumberworth on to Luwer Cumberworth and back to Denby Dale. We leave the station by the small car park and cross over the railway bridge and head uphill. We continue walking uphill, crossing several fields until we reach Upper Cumberworth church in time for a well earned coffee. We leave the church and head for the ow the track down to Lower Cumberworth, where we can take lunch at the cricket ground. We then walk through the village and back to Denby.

From the Yorkshire Bridge, we walk across the Ladybower dam wall, then downhill by the side of the river to the main road. We cross the road and river (no stepping stones) alongside the river up to Hathersage.

This is a linear walk starting at Crow Edge to High Flats then down to Toby Spout and up to Upper Cumberworth before descending to Denby Dale station. This is a strenuous walk with plenty of stiles.

Meet at Chapeltown card shop in time to catch the 9.30am No 201 bus to Deepcar then the 10am link bus to Oughtibridge.

From Oughtibridge we take a steady walk along the banks of the river Don (look out for Kingfishers and Herons). Eventually we turn away from the river and enter the woods starting an uphill walk (steep in parts). We walk across the hill then down towards a small farm before we walk uphill again (steep in parts). Eventually we reach the Back Edge. After our exertions we are rewarded with some spectacular views. We eventually emerge at Jaw Bone Hill crossing the road we enter the woods and make our way down to Oughtibridge Park at the end of our walk.

Meet at Bere’s in time to catch the 9.30am No1/1a bus to the Old Market then the 10.20 am No 81 bus from Snig Hill to Whirlow.

From Whirlow Brook we walk downhill through Whirlow playing  fields and into Eclesall woods. We continue to walk downhill crossing a small river several times before we emerge at Abbeydale Rd which we cross with care. A short road walk crossing the railway before turning into Chancet woods. We bear right to walk up the Stairway to Heaven. We walk along the ridge before walking down to the golf course which we cross and walk past the Abbey. Once past the Abbey we walk down to Millhouse’s Park. Café and toilets are available, we alk to through the park to the bus stop then make our way home.

From the top of Dore village we walk up Long Line, eventually turning off the lane to walk through fields and open country. We continue to walk downhill until we reach Whirlow Park a nice place to have lunch. After lunch we walk to the bottom of the park before crossing the Hathersage Rd. We then walk through the Whirlow playing fields, eventually entering Eccelsall Woods. Walking through the woods we turn to walk uphill to Dore village.

Meet at Chapeltown St in time to catch the 9.48am train to Denby Dale

We leave the station via the small car park, walking downhill towards the centre of Denby.

Continuing downhill past the Craft centre before we walk through a housing estate up Miller Hill. We cross the A629 and onto a track which takes us under the railway and up to 5 lane ends. Keeping the houses of Denby Delth on our left we continue uphill (not so steep now) crossing half a dozen fields and stiles, eventually arriving at the Friends Meeting House a good place for a lunch break. We then make our way downhill keeping Toby Spout on our right reaching the A635 before waling up to Upper Cumberworth. From the church we take a steady downhill walk to Denby Dale station.

Meet at Chapeltown station in time to catch the 9.48am train to Barnsley then the  10.10am No 32a bus to Cundy Cross.

From Cundy Cross we walk past Monk Bretton Priory onto the TPT heading towards Cudworth. The walk takes us through a wooded area onto the 18th century Storrs Mill Stone then Edderthorpe (home of the legendry Saxon called Eric). We then follow the river Dearne up to Warfield where we catch the bus back to Barnsley.

Meet at Chapeltown St in time to catch the9.12am train to Sheffield then the 9.41am No 252 bus to Ford.

The walk goes along Geer Lane  towards Birleyhay through  fields and past Fold Farm (dated 1687). Continue to Dodholme ponds. Walk up a steep but short hill to Birchwood Rd (an ancient bridleway) continue on to Score House and onto Ford lane. We walk through a farm to “Lady Ida’s Drive” built by Lady Ida Sitwell in 1890’s. We then go through High Bradley wood and into Piece Wood. Descend to a track which was the Plumley Mine railway. Go into Twelve Acre Wood and follow the path back to Ford mill pond and the Bridge Inn.

We will be aiming to catch the 2.41pm No252 bus back to Sheffield, next bus is at 4.04pm.

Mostly flat walk with one short steep hill and 6 stiles.

From Yorkshire Bridge we walk across the Ladybower dam wall. At the end of the wall we turn right and walk downhill along side the river eventually we turn away from the river and make our way across the hills to Hope.

Meet at the card shop in time to catch the 9.31 am N 201 bus to Stocksbridge.

From the Red Grouse we take a short road walk before entering open country. We continue  to walk downhill through several fields eventually reaching Underbank reservoir. After walking round the reservoir we take a short road walk before starting our walk back uphill. We walk through a wooded area and fields before reaching the end of our walk at the Red Grouse.

Meet at Chapeltown St in time to catch the 9.12am train then the 10.00 am No 218 bus from Pond St to Bakewell.

We start from the centre of Bakewell walking from the town centre we cross over the river Wye and make our way up Castle Hill. We cross over the old railway lines and make our way up a very steep hill. Once at the top we make our way across the ridge and are rewarded with some great views. As we enter the wooded area (lunch stop)we start our descent towards Rowsley, this is steep and muddy in places. Once down the hill we follow the river back into Bakewell.

A steady walk passing through wooded areas and fields. Some road walking (not much) and a few stiles.

Meet Chapeltown St in time to catch the 9.12am train to Sheffield then the 9.40am No 272 bus from Pond St to Fox House.

From Fox House we walk down to the Longshaw estate where we can have a quick coffee, we the continue our walk through the estate emerging at the main road. A short road walk before we turn onto a well beaten track, (rough under foot) that takes us up to Froggatt Edge.

Once on the Edge we walk towards Wellington Memorial before making our descent to Baslow.

From the Church we make our way downhill to the cricket ground time for a coffee. Wethe walk through the village making our way to the dam. Anice steady walk around the Dam then a well earned Meal (Two for a Fiver) at the Plough.

From Thorpe we take a steady uphill walk to Wentworth take a coffee at the church. From the church we walk through the village and make our way up to the Eye of the Needle (no racing today). From the Needle we walk through fields and woodland down to Elsecar.

We start with a steep walk and climb several ladder stiles heading up to Castle Hill. The walk then starts to level out and eventually goes downhill. Excellent views all round.

Meet at Chapeltown St in time to catch the 9.48am train to Stocksmoor.

We walk through the village before entering fields and wooded areas. We eventually emerge from the woods and walk through the village of Shepley. Once through the village we take to country tracks again and make our way up to Upper Cumberworth, lunch at the church. We the walk downhill to Denby station.
